This class has greatly improved my skills in photography. In the beginning of the trimester, I had no idea what shutter speed, ISO, and aperture were. Usually when I would shoot photos, I would try to angle the camera in a cool way to get depth, or some sort of clarity. When I learned all of these new tools, it made it a lot easier to capture a clean and crisp photo.
I also learned how to use photoshop. Before I knew how to use it I would turn in raw photos that had no edits to them. Now, it feels weird to turn in a photo without cleaning it up. I learned many useful tools. I learned how to use the clone stamp tool, I learned how to fill in pictures, or erase things. Another thing I learned was how to fix the clarity or contrast of the photo, which greatly improved my images. This class really helped me become a better photographer, and these skills will benefit me in life when it comes to capturing clean images. Here are some examples of photos that I shot without any knowledge about photography, and then below that are photos that I shot when I knew how to properly shoot and edit my photos.

This week, I decided to shoot an open assignment. For my open assignment, I picked color. I found some crayons and put some of them on a blank canvas to make the color pop. This was my best shot this week. I really like how the little doodle in the background is blurred, and how you can see some of the crayons shadows. I used levels and the camera raw filter to edit this photo.
Aperture: 3.5 Shutter: 1/25 ISO: 400 This week, I learned how to put different versions of myself into one photo. I used photoshop and used the lasso tool to put three different versions of myself into the same picture.
This week, I learned how to shoot portraits of people. The one on the left is a portrait with natural light, and the portrait on the right is one with studio light. I learned about many different ways to reflect the light to make the picture look better.
This week, I decided to shoot light painting. I got help from my Dad and brother, and we played around with different lights to capture some cool pictures. This is my best image that I shot. I had my brother run around the living room like a crazy person with a flashlight. It looked really silly, but the picture turned out really cool. I like how you can see the light on the wall. I also used to camera raw filter and fixed the clarity.
Aperture: 8.0 Shutter: 5.0 ISO: 200 This week I decided to shoot people. I shot photos of my two little brothers, Leo and Callum. I like these photos because they really display my brothers personalities. Leo is more silly and creative, and Callum is more serious and sensitive. This is my best photo that I shot. My two year old brother Callum had just woken up from his nap, and I asked him to stand in front of a curtain in our house. I used the camera raw filter to edit this photo.
Aperture: 3.5 Shutter: 1/60 ISO: 100 For this assignment, I was expected to shoot five different photos that displayed my knowledge of panoramic photos. During this project, I learned how to use photomerge on photoshop.
This week, I decided to shoot photos that displayed nature. Since the weather is starting to cool down and plant life is dying, my goal was to find brightly colored things that stood out against the dullness. This is the best photo that I shot this week. I like this image because it stands out against the greens and you can see some of the plants decaying in the background, so it makes the flower stand out even more. Another reason why I enjoy this photo, is it looks like the flower was blowing in the wind.
Aperture: 3.5 Shutter: 1/15 ISO: 100 This week, I decided to shoot Macro. My goal was to shoot close-up photos that captured the subject's tiny details, that the eye normally wouldn't catch. This is my best photo that I shot this week. This image portrays the little details of a pinecone. I like this picture because you can see dust and dirt that's collected on the pinecone, and you can see many different colors on the pinecone, that you normally wouldn't see. I used the flash to take this picture, because it caught more detail than taking it without flash. I used photoshop and the camera raw filter to edit this photo.
Aperture: 3.5 Shutter: 1/60 ISO: 100 The photo below is an original copy. The photo below that is the photo I edited. I used photoshop to edit this image. I learned how to use many useful tools in photoshop such as the stamp clone tool, and the camera raw filter.
